divh2Specimen Technician/h2pOur client, a medical research company, is looking for a specimen technician for their Tucker, GA location./ph3Responsibilities:/h3ulliThe SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the specimen processing department./liliThis position requires a data entry background./liliFunctions performed may include but are not limited to A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation and aliquoting./liliAll functions must be performed with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner. Job is complex and requires that employee have good organization skills and is able to learn and understand specimen types related to test(s) ordered by client./liliThe SPT I must have the ability to learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis./liliThis position is critical to quality for customer satisfaction./liliAdditionally, since many changes do occur from day to day, great flexibility on the part of the SPT I is required./liliThe SPT I will be exposed to many different demands made by the customer./li/ulh3Requirements:/h3ulliDepartment is a production environment, with emphasis on productivity/quality standards and departmental completion times./liliPosition requires data background with abilities to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour./liliWorks in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits./liliAble to sit or stand for long periods./liliCommunicates effectively with all levels of staff./liliAdheres to core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures./liliKeeps work area neat and clean./liliDemonstrates strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment./liliDemonstrates flexibility and ability to adapt to change./liliHS diploma or equivalent./liliBasic understanding of computers with a preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing./liliNo experience required but previous laboratory experience preferred./liliMedical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory./liliPrevious hospital laboratory experience is a plus but not required./liliPrevious experience in a production environment preferred./liliExcessive absenteeism/tardiness is not tolerated and will be cause for termination./liliHeavy production site./liliVery busy with repetitive tasks./liliMedical terminology a plus, but not required./liliIf testing samples, will be required to wear lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, protective wear./liliMust have excellent understanding of English language both spoken and written. Bilingual candidates strongly preferred who also speak Spanish.
