Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Ohio RN license or Compact RN license (Registered Nurse)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Diploma of Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year recent acute care RN experience; stepdown or cardiac nursing experience preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (or willingness to obtain) — stroke unit support
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and infusion therapy
• Ability to provide age- and culturally-specific patient care and education
• Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with acute MI, arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, CHF, and chest pain diagnoses
• Perform continuous and telemetry cardiac monitoring and interpret 12-lead EKGs
• Administer infusion therapy, transfusions, injections, and central line care
• Care for ventilator-dependent patients and those requiring advanced respiratory and cardiac support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (cardiology, respiratory therapy, pharmacy) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, patient confidentiality, and compliance with unit protocols
• Support stroke care processes and maintain NIH Stroke Scale competency
• Participate in unit-based education and ongoing professional development for cardiac nursing
