•Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 30,000 annual ED visits
•Admissions: Yes
•Rounding: Included as part of emergency department coverage
•Phone Consults: As required
•Case Mix: Full-scope emergency medicine

FACILITY INFORMATION
•No. of Beds in Department: 484 licensed beds
•Trauma Level: Level II
•EMR System: Cerner
•Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency department equipment
•Specialty Backup Available: Hospitalist medicine program
•Support Staff Available: 24-hour physician coverage and 30-hour NP/PA coverage
•Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
•Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
•Telehealth Experience Required: No
•In-Person EMR Training Required: Yes, prior to first shift
•Privileges Required Prior to Training: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
•Overtime: Daily OT after 12 hours and weekly OT after 168 hours, differential applied
•Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered per locum agreement

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
•Emergency department procedures appropriate for physician-level emergency medicine coverage

JOB REQUIREMENTS
•Licenses: Active state medical license, CDS, and DEA with Iowa address required
•Board: Board Certified in ABEM, ABFM, or ABIM (or osteopathic equivalents)
•DEA: Active DEA required
•Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required
•Experience: Residency trained in the specialty certified in
•Other Qualifications: CME documentation and case logs from the past two years required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients of all ages
•Manage acute and emergent conditions in a Level II trauma center
•Perform emergency procedures and coordinate admissions as required
•Collaborate with hospitalist medicine and consulting services
•Document all patient encounters accurately in Cerner EMR
