Ymca Of The East BayThese general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. Maintain clean and safe areas throughout the facility, including locker rooms, fitness areas, and residence rooms.Essential Functions:Respond to members' & guests' requests and questions in a helpful, courteous manner or refer to another staff member.Collect, wash, fold and dispense towels to their required locations.Perform custodial tasks to ensure that locker rooms remain neat and clean, including the collection of discarded towels and trash.Assist in keeping assigned areas clean, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash collection and specific upkeep and organization of the fitness or residence area.Maintain awareness of environment in order to report and respond to suspicious and inappropriate behavior, safety issues and emergency situations.Attend required branch and in-service trainings.Assist other staff when necessary, such as emergency situations and community events.Perform other duties as required.Work Environment & Physical Demands:Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties; must occasionally lift up to 50 lbsAbility to perform essential care and maintenance of facility which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi–reach to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legsAbility to stand on concrete floors for 1 hour at a timeAbility to use and tolerate the safe use of cleaning chemicals used in the laundry processReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsQualifications:High school diploma or GED preferredAbility to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the communityAt least 18 years of agePay: Starts at $18.24 per hour with annual $750 Holiday Bonus for Full Time StaffProgression Steps:New Hire $18.24 per hour600 Hours worked $18.74 per hour1400 Hours worked $19.24 per hour2100 Hours worked $22.65 per hourEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
