Transportation Engineer Mid Level

We are actively looking for a Transportation Engineer – Roadway to join our Raleigh, North Carolina office. As the successful new hire, you will manage a variety of projects – roadway NCDOT & municipal design projects and develop plans for projects across the state, US and potentially internationally. It is desired that you will have familiarity with DOT roadway engineering type projects, have permitting experience. Duties and responsibilities:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design for DOT, municipal, and private sector clientsDevelop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packagesMaintain and establish working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT, and other state and private sector clients Provide engineering design services for design-bid-build highway and alternative delivery of projectsManage client communications and project development for all stages of transportation design projectsParticipate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, scheduling, and performanceAssist in identifying schedule and cost variances and developing recommendations for corrective actionOther duties:Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil EngineeringSpecialty in DOT Roadway Design preferred8 to 12 years of experience in roadway designFundamentals of Engineering Certificate requiredProfessional Engineer licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire preferred3+ years of production experience with OpenRoads DesignerExcellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) Availability and willingness to travel when necessaryAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hireWorking conditions:Majority of work is office based.
