New Graduate Nurse Residency Program Carle BroMenn Medical Center and Carle Eureka Hospital provide a Nurse Residency program for new graduate Registered Nurses during their first several months of practice. The program helps nurses transition from student to professional nursing practice. Program details include facilitated learning sessions, group discussions, reflective self-care sessions, a comprehensive orientation, classroom and unit-based orientation, simulation, virtual reality and skill sessions, and opportunities for shared governance meetings and observational experiences. The curriculum covers core concepts to support professional career development and is tailored to each cohort. Tracks Acute Care Track Behavioral Health/Chemical Dependency Track Emergency Department Track Intensive Care Track Units within the Acute Care Track Surgical Orthopedics Unit Acute Rehabilitation PCU Clinical Resource Unit (CRU) Requirements Certified as a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Responsibilities Perform all responsibilities and duties required by unit scope of service. Maintain up‑to‑date, accurate documentation of nursing care. Complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate care plans in accordance with unit standards. Implement care plans, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures, modifying plans based on continuous evaluation. Communicate with team members directly and privately as necessary to resolve issues. Work with nurse preceptor to perform all responsibilities for the unit and patient population. Collect and document nursing data promptly. Report adverse events to improve quality and safety. Receive constructive feedback on performance and behavior. Complete all mandatory training and competency modules.
