Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer Location: McIntosh Laboratories, Binghamton, NY (primary work location) Bose Corporation, a leading audio technology company with over 60 years of innovation, is expanding its Luxury Engineering business unit. We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and support software and firmware for a range of audio and automotive applications. Position Summary As a member of the Luxury Engineering team, you will design, deliver, and maintain software and firmware components throughout the entire product development lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, produce integration test plans, and support production and technical support teams. Key Responsibilities Design and implement software components within the framework of a software architecture. Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, other Luxury brands, and third‑party vendors to execute software delivery plans. Contribute to all phases of software development: design, implementation, test coordination, documentation, and lifecycle management. Interpret schematics and datasheets to inform software development. Perform on‑target system integration testing of embedded components, debugging, troubleshooting, and documentation. Support software‑related needs of Production, Service, and Technical Support teams. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in software engineering, preferably for embedded systems. Strong experience with the C programming language. Experience with shell scripting and Linux command‑line tools. Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis. Strong spoken and written communication skills. Preferred Knowledge and exposure to basic hardware design and the ability to read electrical schematics. Experience with basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc.). Experience with serial peripherals (I2C, UART, SPI). Experience with 32‑bit microcontrollers (Cortex‑M0, M0+, M3, M4, M7, DMA, peripheral configuration). Experience with Python. Compensation & Benefits Compensation is tailored to skills, experience, education, and location. The hiring range for the primary location of Binghamton, NY is $82,100–$113,000.
