Meter Reader - North TexasTexas Meter & Device is hiring for a full-time meter reader (gas) in the North Texas area. The service area is north central and north east of the DFW metroplex and includes many of these areas: Flower Mound, The Colony, Frisco, Corinth, Allen and others.Readers on this project are considered full time; however, currently, readers on the project are averaging 4-6 hours per day to complete their assigned routes. So it is full-time pay and benefits while working 25-30 hours/week - Don't let this opportunity pass you by!Under the general direction of the Project/Field Supervisor, the Meter Reader will be reading residential and commercial gas meters.Responsibilities include:Will read residential class and commercial class gas metersUse a hand held device provided by the company to record accurate read informationMaintain accurate records of work completedOversee any materials, uniforms, equipment, vehicle and tools required to complete the workBe punctual and dependable to a set work scheduleRecording of subsequent information in the field as requiredCoordinate scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirementsProvide for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality resultsDemonstrate, at all times, safety in all aspects of the work including driving, parking, accessing customer property, and adherence to all TMD safety standards and operating proceduresOther duties and tasks as assigned or necessaryRequirements:Mechanical aptitude is necessaryAbility to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the positionAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessaryAbility to carry out duties in a safe and efficient mannerStable Multi-year Work HistoryClear criminal historyAttention to DetailDependabilityPrevious meter reading experience preferred but not requiredGood Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)Must have a valid driver's license and good driving recordMust be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of personal or professional driving experience due to insurance requirementsMust have own personal Smart phoneAbility to safely operate a company vehicleAdditional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by lawShift and Pay Info:After training, pay is piece rate and technicians on a similar project are currently averaging between $27/hr or more.Training wage is $18/hr and training generally lasts 2-5 days at most. As we stand up the project, the length of training may vary.Monday – Friday, with Saturday work REQUIRED at timesWork hours are generally between the hours of 6:30am - 4pm (no more than an 8 hour shift during this time frame). Currently, readers on the project are averaging 4-6 hours per day to complete their assigned routes.
