Job Title: Welder and Fabricator

Job Description

This role focuses on laying out, fitting, and preparing pipe systems and fixtures for fluid processing machinery, then welding these assemblies according to detailed blueprints and weld symbols. You will primarily perform pipe welding using Pulse MIG and TIG processes across various metals and projects, including work on pressure vessels that requires both welding and testing capabilities. Some fluid processing units are large, so you will work at height using ladders to access installation areas while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, and prepare pipe systems and fixtures for fluid processing machinery in accordance with engineering specifications and blueprints.

• Interpret and work from blueprints with weld symbols to determine weld types, locations, and sequence.

• Perform high-quality pipe welding using Pulse MIG and TIG processes on a variety of metals and wall thicknesses.

• Execute pressure vessel welding and participate in testing procedures to ensure structural integrity and compliance with standards.

• Use ladders and appropriate access equipment to reach and weld on larger fluid processing units while following safety protocols.

• Carry out fabrication and fitting tasks, including cutting, aligning, and assembling components prior to welding.

• Conduct and pass required weld tests on day one, demonstrating proficiency in multiple 6G pipe configurations.

• Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments or repairs as needed.

• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Collaborate with team members in a manufacturing environment to meet production schedules and support continuous workflow.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in TIG welding on pipe, including open root and multi-pass welds.

• Proficiency in Pulse MIG welding on pipe, including root, fill, and cover passes.

• Strong blueprint reading skills, with the ability to interpret weld symbols and fabrication details.

• Hands-on experience with pipe welding and fabrication in an industrial or heavy machinery environment.

• Ability to perform and pass three weld tests on day one: 6G 2" Schedule 80 pipe with backing ring using MIG root and Pulse MIG cover; 6G 2" Schedule 80 pipe open root using TIG root, fill, and cover; 6G 2" Schedule 160 pipe using TIG root, TIG fill, and TIG gap.

• Capability to perform pressure vessel welding and support testing procedures.

• Comfort working at height using ladders and other access equipment while maintaining safety.

• Commitment to following safety standards and using required PPE, including weld hood, gloves, and jacket.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with stick welding is beneficial.

• Any relevant welding certifications are a plus and help demonstrate technical proficiency.

• Prior experience in manufacturing environments serving industries such as chemical, gas/oil, or pharmaceutical is advantageous.

Work Environment

You work in a manufacturing facility that builds heavy fluid processing machines for industries such as chemical, gas/oil, and pharmaceutical. The operation runs multiple shifts, with a first shift from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and a second shift from 3:45 p.m. to 1:45 a.m.; training occurs on day shift, and you need to be open to working either shift. The environment emphasizes safety and proper attire, including steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection, with specific PPE provided for different jobs. As a welder, you use and maintain your weld hood, gloves, and jacket, working around heavy machinery, pipe systems, and fabrication equipment in a structured, production-focused setting

This is a Contract position based out of York, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
