We are seeking an Assistant Underwriter for our growing team. The Assistant Underwriter role is designed to offer development opportunities for those interested in an insurance career. As individuals learn how to evaluate risks, they will provide support for servicing a book of business under an assigned Underwriter.

Summary of Essential Responsibilities: Key responsibilities will include supporting the policy workflow by reviewing and logging insurance applications, preparing binders, and processing policies and endorsements, binding risks, posting invoices, processing technical data, reviewing renewal applications and sending renewal quotes. Other tasks include working with agents and underwriters to order and follow up on inspections, handle referrals as needed and assist with evaluation of forms for completeness and accuracy as needed.

The Assistant Underwriter will build key relationships both internally and externally with agents and carriers and may assist with business development to support the sales and production process.

Additional unspecified duties may be performed or assigned in accordance with this role.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Insurance knowledge a plus, but not required. Strong sales and marketing skills, business acumen, and ability to negotiate required. Computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail oriented and organized. High-level of motivation and ability to prioritize, willingness to take on challenges and interest in continual professional development.
