Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems Assistant Chief Test EngineerThe Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE) is responsible for the day-to-day NPES test activities and reports directly to the Chief Test Engineer (CTE). Specific duties of the NPES ACTE vary by project type; some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Assist the CTE with management of project schedulesOversee project cost and performance dataSupervise the daily tasking of hourly Electronics Technicians and salary Test Engineers assigned to their projectReport testing status and concerns to the CTESupervise and conduct effective shift turnoversConstant interface with trades, engineering, ships management, and government personnel to coordinate and accomplish test program activitiesVerify re-entry control retest requirements are properly identified and accomplished as requiredDocument and track problems encountered during testingPerform test procedure review for completeness and accuracyDirectly supervise or lead tests in their area of expertiseActively support process improvement initiativesSupervise/control test activities during sea trialsDevelop and mentor Test Engineers to create a strong interchangeable teamProvide input to the CTE for personnel performance reviewsManage and oversee system tag-outs to ensure safety of personnel and equipmentQualificationsRequired:High school diploma or equivalentThe ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearanceExperience with the implementation of hazardous energy tag-out controls (lockout / tagout)Experience with and ability to execute to NAVSEA 0905-485-6010 requirements (Navy experience accepted in lieu of 6010 quals)Previous supervisory experience in the shipyard or NavyMinimum of 3 years of experience with Non Propulsion Electronic Systems Operation and MaintenancePreferred:A minimum of four years of experience with the operation, maintenance, and/or testing of Navigation, SONAR, Combat, Local Area Networks, Ship Control, Towed Array Systems, Integrated Communication System, Circuit D, ICCP, and various auxiliary systemsExperience with a NPES dockside test program or equivalent related experience in a test or ships management disciplineCurrent qualification as a Shift Test Director, or equivalent experienceAssociate or Bachelor's degree in engineering or managementSkillsCandidates should possess excellent personal and personnel management skills. Must be capable of working in a team environment and be able to demonstrate highly effective communication skills. The ACTE position requires excellent task management and technical abilities to coordinate and direct integrated test evolutions.Excellent computer skills including: EWP, Cornerstone LMS, Microsoft Office, ITP, ATA, Lotus Notes, and Outlook.
