Cardiovascular Device Technologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. Full‑time, day shift. The role involves operating hemodynamic monitoring equipment, cardiac stimulators, CIED programmers, applying sterile technique, and supporting electrophysiology and other cardiac procedures. Primary Responsibilities Apply sterile technique to set up procedural workspace, prepare and drape patients, and monitor and document hemodynamic measurements for all patient encounters. Operate all necessary equipment, devices, and consoles independently, troubleshoot issues, identify need for service calls, and assist physicians during procedures. Ensure all documentation and images linked to the patient record are accurately labeled with correct PHI and stored correctly in PACS. Apply the ALARA principle to maintain a safe radiation environment, monitor exposure times, and document fluoroscopy times and doses. Work collaboratively with other health professionals, promoting safety and constructive communication. Maintain all required equipment and supplies, assist in inventory management, and track usage in the department tracking system. Maintain all required training, licenses, and certifications for the role. Aid in financial accuracy by ensuring documentation supports accurate billing and assist with billing/charging issues. Participate in advancing technologist practice through knowledge sharing and clinical expertise. Serve as a preceptor to mentor incoming staff and students. Demonstrate understanding of diversity and inclusion, fostering positive relationships with all team members. Serve as a second operator in procedures per competency‑based training program. Act as the designated Super‑User for new procedures, equipment, or technology. Contribute to academic, research, or teaching activities (e.g., quality/safety projects, presentations, publications) with documented participation throughout the year. Apply universal precautions and proper infection control procedures when handling biohazard materials, storing used equipment and supplies, and marking equipment per hospital policy. Required Qualifications Associate’s degree or health‑related certification required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. BLS and ACLS certification required. 5‑7 or more years of clinical experience in Electrophysiology. Second operator competency‑based training. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other web‑based applications; ability to produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases. Preferred Qualifications Advanced certification in RCIS, RCES, or IHBRE. Competencies Decision Making: Make decisions guided by precedents, policies, and objectives. Age‑Based Competencies Employees must be competent to provide patient care to all age groups: Young adult (16‑30 years), Middle age (30‑60 years), Elderly (60+) years. Social/Environmental Requirements Work requires close attention to tasks; intermittent breaks do not compromise accuracy. Work varies daily; employee must adapt and use independent judgment. Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Several times a week: radiation, dust, gas, fumes, steam, chemicals; protective equipment required (respirator, earplugs, mask, gloves, eyewear, etc.); exposure to infectious diseases. Health Care Status: HCW1 – regular, day‑to‑day contact within three feet for at least five minutes with physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomists, medical assistants, etc. Status may vary by department. Physical Requirements Exert up to 100 pounds occasionally or 50 pounds frequently; physically demanding with periods of standing, walking, and moving. Continuous sitting, walking, standing, keyboard use; endurance of up to 2 hours without a break. Frequent bending, twisting, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling using one or both hands; reaching above/below shoulder height; pushing items up to 10–50 lbs (occasionally up to 75–100 lbs).
