Job Description

This role focuses on assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical capital equipment from sub-assembly through final test and system acceptance. You start by learning sub-assembly processes and progressively take on full responsibility for final assembly, ensuring that every system meets quality, reliability, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble complex electro-mechanical capital equipment, sub-systems, mechanisms, and controls from sub-assembly through final assembly.
• Perform detailed testing and troubleshooting on equipment and sub-systems to ensure proper function and reliability.
• Work from assembly procedures, technical drawings, test procedures, specifications, data sheets, schematics, and wiring diagrams to complete tasks accurately.
• Set up and operate standard and specialized test equipment to evaluate product performance and quality.
• Conduct tests to determine the quality and reliability of systems and components, documenting results as needed.
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions in electro-mechanical systems and make necessary corrections and adjustments.
• Use hand tools, measurement tools, and test instruments such as multimeters and calipers to complete assembly and test activities.
• Collaborate with other technicians and assemblers to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement in the manufacturing process.
• Follow safety guidelines, standard operating procedures, and quality standards throughout all assembly and test activities.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned to support production goals and team objectives.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical capital equipment.
• Ability to read and understand assembly drawings.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical component drawings.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Ability to read and understand pneumatic schematics.
• Hands-on electrical and mechanical skills, including wiring and electro-mechanical assembly.
• Experience using general test equipment such as power supplies and oscilloscopes.
• Proficiency with multimeters, calipers, and other measurement and diagnostic tools.
• Experience working with personal computer hardware and software for testing and troubleshooting purposes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electro-mechanical systems and controls.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to document work and interact effectively with the team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with technicians and assemblers at various levels.
• Self-starter with a self-driven approach to learning and taking ownership of tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfort working from detailed specifications, data sheets, and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to work with IPC standards and practices related to electrical and wiring work.
• Experience using a variety of hand tools and specialized tools for assembly and test activities.
• Ability to adapt to evolving processes and learn new sub-assembly and final assembly procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable equipment.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, first-shift position, Monday through Friday, typically from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM with flexible start times to accommodate individual needs. The role is based in a new, spacious manufacturing facility designed for electro-mechanical assembly and testing. The environment includes access to general and specialized test equipment, power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, calipers, and standard assembly tools. The dress code is casual, allowing comfortable attire suitable for hands-on technical work. You work within a mid-size company structure that includes multiple levels of technicians and assemblers, from junior to expert, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and teamwork across the production floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
