Part-Time Bus Driver - Position Open Until Filled

WE ARE HIRING! Join our team and become our new part-time BUS DRIVER for the courtesy bus service the Village proudly offers to all Niles residents. Bus Drivers are responsible for providing safe and courteous transportation to the public on assigned bus routes. This position works primarily on weekends and reports to the Transportation Supervisor.

Essential job functions include...

• Performs daily pre-trip bus inspections to ensure cleanliness and report any safety or maintenance problems.
• Exercises continual defensive driving techniques and completes assigned bus routes in a safe, timely fashion.
• Monitors passenger behavior to minimize bus incidents and accidents.
• Assists passengers in need of assistance.
• Communicates with the public in a courteous and helpful manner and accurately tallies passenger counts.
• Practices safety in all tasks and adheres to applicable federal, state, and Village safety regulations.
• Adheres to PACE policies and guidelines.
• Passes training and route orientation requirements.

Qualified candidates should...

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid CDL Class C License with passenger endorsement.
• Have a good driving record, as verified by a driver's license abstract/motor vehicle report.
• Possess a DOT medical card and be able to pass a DOT physical.
• Be able to lift 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
• Have visual acuity and hearing ability critical for the safety of the bus and passengers.
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills.

Pay, benefits, and more...

• Available shifts are primarily on weekends with occasional weekday hours to cover vacancies. Applicants must be able to work Saturdays and/or Sundays, between 8:30am and 5pm, as a regularly assigned schedule.
• May work an average of up to 19 hours per week.
• Starting wage is $25.10 - $32.63 per hour, depending on qualifications.
