Assistant Bakery Manager

Responsibilities Assist the Bakery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit. Oversee ordering, inventory control, product quality, and supervision of the Bakery team. Execute rotation of merchandise and build displays. Monitor incoming cases for damaged items. Ensure delivery of excellent customer service and monitor Bakery product quality. Unload and sort store deliveries, operate and maintain deli equipment. Ensure all company health, safety and sanitation guidelines are followed and that Bakery team members are aware of and follow them. Qualifications At least 18 years old with a minimum of two years’ retail grocery experience and two years supervisory experience. Dependable and reliable with ability to work flexible schedule that may change, including nights, weekends and holidays. Outgoing and friendly with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers. Good communication skills; able to give and receive direction and participate in a team environment. Able to answer phones and take special orders. Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.). Operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed; use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products. Able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift; vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs. from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours, and vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs. from 5” to 36” for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance. Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
