Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Financial Affairs Department is seeking a Staff Accountant to prepare a variety of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and tax filings, draft external financial reports for third‑party publications and membership organizations, and create ad hoc reports upon request. Responsibilities Compile and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and prepare adjusted journal entries. Perform routine internal audit functions, including edit checks. Analyze and monitor revenue and expense allocations for relevance. Interpret and follow accounting policies and procedures, and recommend adjustments to the Assistant Controller. Ensure compliance with Institute policies, procedures, and unclaimed property regulations. Assist with budget preparation, adjustments, and departmental budget queries. Support the preparation of year‑end audit schedules and supporting documentation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Two to three years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience. Sound knowledge of accounting principles and analytical ability. Working knowledge of accounting, database, and data‑analysis software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong project and process‑management, multi‑tasking, organizational, and mathematical skills. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. A service‑oriented attitude and ability to interact with personnel at all organizational levels. Preferred Qualifications Three years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience. Knowledge of Banner Finance, SAP Concur, and Spreadsheet Server. CPA or CPA candidate status. Salary $56,000 – $66,000, competitive and negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
