Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to provide materials science and analytical services supporting prioritized projects across the global Haleon organization.

This position will operate sophisticated materials characterization equipment, perform advanced analytical testing, interpret complex data, and provide scientific support for pharmaceutical, nutritional, and excipient materials. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, scientists, and key stakeholders in a matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide materials science and analytical services to support prioritized global projects.

• Operate sophisticated materials characterization and analytical instrumentation.

• Perform routine instrument maintenance, verification, and calibration to ensure reliable and accurate analytical data.

• Support novel and complex investigations requiring innovative problem-solving and a strong understanding of instrument capabilities and material properties.

• Perform a variety of critical analyses to evaluate the physicochemical properties of pharmaceutical, nutritional, and excipient materials.

• Analyze, interpret, and report analytical data clearly and accurately.

• Author, edit, and approve technical documents and project-related reports in a timely manner.

• Present technical findings and scientific work clearly and concisely to project teams and stakeholders.

• Conduct scientific peer reviews of electronic laboratory notebook records and technical reports.

• Maintain exceptional attention to detail when reviewing scientific documentation and analytical results.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

• Communicate effectively within a matrixed organization.

• Manage and communicate project expectations with customers, project teams, and key stakeholders.

• Support additional analytical and materials science activities as project priorities require.

Instrumentation & Analytical Expertise

Experience with materials characterization techniques and instrumentation may include:

• Rheometry

• Pycnometry

• Polarimetry

• Microscopy

• Particle Size Determination

• Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)

• Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

• Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS)

• Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)

• Raman Spectroscopy

• Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS)

• Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)

• Brunauer-Emmett-Teller / Specific Surface Area (BET/SSA)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Strong analytical and scientific problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation.

• Ability to interpret physicochemical analytical data and communicate scientific findings.

• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with scientists, technical teams, and project stakeholders.

This is an onsite position based in Richmond, Virginia .

Compensation

$77.51 per hour

Work Environment & Dress Requirements

Employees are expected to maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.

Required dress and PPE include:

• Steel-toe shoes or boots are required at all times.

• Casual but appropriate work attire.

• No false eyelashes or artificial nails.

• No jewelry while on shift.

• No facial piercings or facial jewelry while on shift.

• Clothing must not have rips, tears, or holes.

• Additional PPE may be required based on laboratory or work-area activities.

Pay Details: $77.51 per hour
