Respiratory Therapist - PRN

Position Overview Provides respiratory care to diverse patient populations, using techniques appropriate to their developmental and physical needs, under physician orders following established standards and protocols. Key Responsibilities Contribute to department goals, adhere to policies, procedures, quality, and safety standards while complying with regulations. Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs, documenting appropriately. Perform respiratory treatments including oxygen therapy, ventilator management, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion, spirometry, EKG, and blood gas analysis. Engage in therapeutic communication, problem-solving, and crisis intervention during patient care. Review electronic medical records and physician orders throughout shifts. Respond to emergencies, maintaining airway management, oxygen delivery, ventilation, and performing CPR as needed. Optimize workflow efficiency, monitor interdepartmental systems, and recommend improvements. Perform additional duties aligned with the role. Qualifications & Skills Associate’s degree in respiratory care from an accredited program; bachelor’s preferred. 0-3 years of acute care experience; registry eligible. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Maryland required. CPR certification; additional certifications such as ACLS, NRP, PALS required within a year where applicable. Knowledge of respiratory anatomy, physiology, pathology, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
