Job Description

The Safety Associate supports the safety manager in ensuring all safety measures are implemented and followed on a solar rebuild project. This role oversees electrical and mechanical installation activities for solar modules, working closely with module install teams in a fast-paced construction environment. The position requires hands-on work with plug-and-play solar systems, consistent lifting, and adherence to strict safety and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the safety manager to ensure all safety procedures, policies, and measures are in place and consistently followed throughout the solar rebuild project.
• Oversee electrical and mechanical installation activities for solar modules, ensuring they comply with safety guidelines and project specifications.
• Support plug-and-play solar system installation, verifying that components are installed safely and correctly.
• Assist module install teams with unloading solar modules from trucks and placing them safely in the designated laydown yard.
• Assist operators in moving solar modules from the laydown yard to workstations, repeatedly lifting 25–30 pounds at frequent intervals during installation.
• Carry old modules and cables to designated dumpsters, ensuring safe handling and proper disposal of materials.
• Place bolts and screws into appropriate locations to secure modules in place, using power drills and hand tools safely and efficiently.
• Install solar modules at a fast pace to meet daily production goals while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.
• Monitor work areas for potential hazards and communicate any safety concerns promptly to the safety manager and team members.
• Promote a safety-first culture by modeling safe work practices and reinforcing compliance with OSHA 30 and site-specific safety requirements.

• At least 1 year of OSHA 30 safety experience with electrical knowledge.
• Practical understanding of OSHA 30 safety standards and their application on construction and electrical job sites.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience working with solar panels and solar electric systems.
• Ability to lift 30+ pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment with strict daily production goals.
• Comfort working outdoors in a construction environment with uneven ground and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to use power drills and hand tools safely and efficiently for installation tasks.

• Prior experience in a non-residential construction environment.
• Experience working on solar rebuild or solar installation projects.
• Strong attention to detail when installing and securing electrical and mechanical components.
• Ability to handle physical demands, including frequent lifting, walking on uneven terrain, and working at a sustained pace.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with operators, install teams, and the safety manager.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure while meeting daily production targets.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-residential construction environment and is entirely outdoors. You will work in varying and sometimes extreme temperature conditions and must be comfortable handling weather-related challenges throughout the day. The work is fast paced, with daily production goals that require consistent focus and physical effort. The job involves frequent lifting of 25–30 pounds, extensive walking on uneven ground, and regular use of power drills and hand tools for installing solar modules. The environment emphasizes safety, productivity, and teamwork while working on a large-scale solar rebuild project.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Billings, MT.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Billings,MT.
