A day in the life
Based in Santa Fe Springs, CA, you arrive to a clean, organized cell and begin prepping a Swiss-type CNC lathe for a new production run. You dial in tooling, confirm offsets, run first-article parts, and verify dimensions with precision gauges. Throughout the shift, you monitor cycle performance, fine-tune feeds and speeds, and keep meticulous records so every component meets exacting specs. When a hiccup appears, you collaborate with teammates to troubleshoot quickly, then get back to delivering flawless parts.
What you'll do- Set up and operate Swiss CNC machines to produce precision components per drawings and specifications.
- Continuously monitor operations, adjusting tooling, offsets, and parameters to maintain optimal performance.
- Inspect parts for quality and dimensional accuracy; ensure output meets internal standards.
- Keep your station clean and organized while following all safety procedures.
- Work cross-functionally to diagnose and resolve machining issues.
- Document production details, setups, and process changes with accurate records.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to boost throughput and efficiency.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional machining education/certification is a plus.
- Hands-on experience running Swiss CNC equipment in a production environment.
- Solid grasp of machining principles and strong blueprint reading ability.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection methods.
- Sharp problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Clear communicator and effective team collaborator.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and overtime when needed.
- Troubleshooting skills, including mechanical troubleshooting
- Deburring best practices and finishing techniques
- CNC machine setup and changeover for new parts
- Understanding of machine geometry and alignment
- Background in aerospace manufacturing environments
- Precision measurement and inspection expertise
- Efficient machine setups for production runs
- Advanced blueprint reading
