Shipyard Pipe Fitter — Shipyard Experience Required

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

Position Summary

360 is seeking experienced Shipyard Pipe Fitters for a project in Jacksonville, Florida. Candidates must have proven hands-on experience working in a shipyard environment, performing pipe-fitting work on marine piping systems aboard ships or vessels, and brazing pipe and fittings.

Shipyard experience, marine piping experience, brazing experience, and the ability to meet the client's background screening and naval facility access requirements are mandatory.

Candidates with experience limited to residential plumbing, commercial plumbing, or general industrial pipe fitting without relevant shipyard and shipboard marine piping experience will not meet the client's requirements.

All candidates must successfully complete a practical, hands-on pipe-fitting skills test as part of the hiring process.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pipe fitting, fabrication, installation, modification, and repair of marine piping systems aboard ships and vessels.
• Read and interpret shipboard blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and piping layouts.
• Measure, cut, fit, bend, and assemble pipes, fittings, valves, and supports.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard piping systems.
• Prepare pipe and fittings for joining in accordance with project specifications.
• Perform brazing on pipe and fittings using the methods and procedures required for the project.
• Perform soldering and other pipe-joining tasks as required.
• Inspect completed work for proper fit, alignment, quality, and workmanship.
• Safely operate pipe-fitting hand tools, power tools, pipe machines, and measuring equipment.
• Follow all applicable shipyard safety procedures and project requirements, including confined-space requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Previous professional pipe-fitting experience in a shipyard environment is required.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, or repairing marine piping systems aboard ships or vessels is required.
• Demonstrated hands-on brazing experience is required.
• Must meet the client's background screening requirements and be eligible for access to the naval facility.
• Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or naval vessel maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret shipboard piping blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and layouts.
• Strong knowledge of pipe measurement, layout, fitting, assembly, and installation.
• Experience with soldering or other pipe-joining methods as required by the project.
• Proficiency with pipe-fitting hand tools, power tools, and related equipment.
• Ability to successfully pass a practical, hands-on pipe-fitting skills test.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined or restricted spaces.
• Ability to comply with all applicable facility access, identification, security, and safety requirements.

Work Environment

This position is based at an active naval facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Work may involve shipboard environments, mechanical spaces, industrial areas, confined spaces, elevated locations, and other areas associated with naval vessel maintenance and repair.
