Senior Philanthropy Officer

Overview The Foundation for Barnes‑Jewish Hospital has an opportunity for a Sr. Philanthropy Officer. This role will focus on advancing philanthropic priorities for Goldfarb School of Nursing, with primary emphasis on securing major gifts for scholarships, endowed faculty positions, and capital projects. It requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and a preference for candidates with prior fundraising experience—ideally within higher education. This is a hybrid position, with expectations to be onsite three times per week. Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of major giving donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. This includes capital, endowment, and programmatic gifts. Hold a portfolio of regional donors with the expectation of growing the regional footprint in dollars raised and donors engaged. Travel may be expected. Manage at least two hospital divisions or departments, working with division leads and staff to cultivate new donors, shape fundraising needs, and solicit donors based on those needs. Collaborate with the events team to orchestrate donor receptions that support campaign fundraising. Attend evening and weekend Foundation events as needed to cultivate and steward key donors. Ensure proper recording of all contracts with prospects and provide appropriate gift acknowledgement and stewardship of assigned donors. Also responsible for all donor communications, including written proposals and gift agreements. Identify and solicit planned giving prospects, collaborating with leadership to complete complex estate gifts.
