What You Need to Get Started in CA California has specific guidelines for leading a classroom, but we make the pathways clear: Option 1: The Degree Track (Bachelor’s Required) You have your Bachelor’s degree (any major). The Perk: You are eligible to apply now! You can begin working immediately in classroom support roles. To move into lead teaching roles, simply opt into Permit Assist and we’ll help you secure your Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. Option 2: The Undergrad Track You are currently working toward your degree. The Requirement: You must have completed at least 90 college credits AND currently hold the CA CL-505d Emergency Permit for Prospective Teachers.
