Lifeguard

Lifeguard Position

The lifeguard will create a safe, positive and welcoming environment while providing quality services for participants of all ages. Responsibilities include lifeguarding for pool parties, specialty swims and swim lessons. Year-round program with sessions beginning in September, January and March.

Flexible shifts and schedule:

• Weekday morning, afternoon and evening hours.
• Work one day a week or multiple days.

Location:

• Wayzata East Middle School Pool

Training:

• Mandatory staff training is held monthly.
• Pre-season training is provided prior to program start dates.

Essential Functions

• Supervise pool activities and participants to ensure a safe, positive and enjoyable experience.
• Maintain continuous and effective surveillance of the pool and surrounding areas to identify and respond to potential safety concerns.
• Enforce pool rules, safety policies and procedures consistently and appropriately.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, injuries and other incidents in accordance with established procedures and lifeguard training.
• Provide assistance and support to participants of all ages while promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment.
• Work collaboratively with other lifeguards and aquatic staff to maintain a safe, clean and well-organized pool environment.
• Follow all staff policies, procedures and aquatic safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years old by program start date.
• Current Lifeguard certification, or ability to obtain.
• Must demonstrate strong communication skills.
• Must demonstrate dependability.
• Must demonstrate a friendly and personable demeanor.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
