Level 1 RN - Psychiatric Emergency Room

Location: New York, NY

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Weekend blocked, day/night rotational position, with holidays, on-call, callback, and charge as per unit needs. Full-time, 48 hours per week only.

Job Description: The Level 1 RN in the Psychiatric Emergency Room is responsible for conducting intake assessments, planning and providing nursing care, and consulting with psychiatric staff to design treatment plans. The RN will administer medications, document patient information, and maintain patient confidentiality while ensuring a safe environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients including nursing diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff for treatment planning.
• Administer medications and note patient reactions.
• Assist patients in understanding emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Test for pain and ensure appropriate pain management treatments.
• Document all patient information and maintain accurate medical records.
• Perform administrative duties such as filing and answering phones.
• Provide high-quality service to patients and the public.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current RN License in New York.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from AHA.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric settings.
• Telemetry experience is a plus.
