• Day Shift Staff: 1 Charge, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 HUC
• Night Shift Staff: 1 Charge, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
• Patient Ratios: Day Shift 1:4-6, Night Shift 1:5-7
• EMR: Cerner

General Information Job Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in this unit, you will:

• Provide high-quality patient care and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Monitor and assess patients' health status and implement appropriate interventions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with team members to facilitate patient care and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

• Telemetry rhythm capabilities.
• Strong critical thinking and time management skills.
• Ability to assess medical-surgical level patients and notify appropriate personnel when acuity levels change.
• Effective communication skills and punctuality for work shifts.

Preferred Skills

While not mandatory, the following skills are preferred:

• ACLS certification.

Typical Procedures

Routine tasks performed within this unit include:

• Administering IV fluids and antibiotics.
• Providing tube feeds and peg feedings.

Required Certifications

• BLS certification is mandatory.

Floating Areas

Staff may be required to float to other medical-surgical units and occasionally assist in the holding pod of the emergency department.

Weekend Requirements

Every other weekend commitment or a total of 6 weekend shifts per pay period is expected.

Experience

A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
