Summary Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. Responsibilities Provides daily physician management and treatment of patients at the Clinic/Practice. Provides clinical services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment and referral. Participates in the establishment of office policies, procedures and medical protocols necessary to provide physician clinic services. Appropriately refers patients to medical specialists. Complies with BMA/BCHS policies, procedures and pricing. Utilizes program forms/computer system for charting. Complies with case management protocols. Agrees to assist with the clinic/practice’s quality assurance and quality improvement plan. Works with Administration to ensure that the program operates consistent with appropriate medical policy and current professional standards in the specific area of care. Participates in community events and periodic public relations calls as time permits. Maintains appropriate telephone contact with patients, payers and pharmacies. Performs physical exams (Routine Examinations, DOT examinations, Post-Offer Exams, Executive Physicals, CDL exams, Annual Exams, School/Sport Physicals). May serve as Medical Review Officer (MRO) for drug screens. May serve as Director for on-site Laboratory services if applicable to specific site. Key Accountabilities Daily physician management and treatment of patients. Direct clinical services, tests and referrals. Perform physical exams and develop treatment plans. Maintain telephone contact with patients, payers and pharmacies. Compliance: Complies with BCHS policies, procedures and pricing. Complies with clinical protocols. Complies with quality assurance and quality improvement. Participates in chart reviews and staff education when appropriate and maintains continuing education requirements. Policies and Procedures: Works with administration to ensure that the management program operates within appropriate medical policies and procedures. Gives feedback regarding treatment protocols. Participates in community events and public relations when appropriate. Standards of Conduct Communication: Speak in language customers can understand and deliver messages with courtesy, clarity and care. Confidentiality/Privacy: Protect patient privacy and modesty by creating a secure and trusting environment. Professionalism/Excellence Orientation: Work to meet customers’ needs and further the mission of the hospital. Ownership/Stewardship: Take pride in work and demonstrate responsibility for outcomes. Teamwork/Commitment to Co‑Workers: Depend on each other to provide the best possible service and care. Minimum Education, Training and Experience Current valid & unrestricted license to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Current valid & unrestricted DEA registration number. Eligible at all times to be insured for professional liability insurance. Board Certified or Board Eligible in appropriate specialty. BCLS required. Skills and Abilities Excellent understanding of limits and appropriate supervision. Ability to collaborate with other departments. Assist the surgeon in the office and operating room until all patients have been taken care of. Familiarity with laws and state regulations related to advanced nursing practice. Desire to maintain a high level of quality of care. Promote application of research to clinical setting. Physical Requirements Strength: Occasionally lift objects less than 20 pounds or push/pull carts exceeding 20 pounds. Manual Dexterity: Perform simple motor skills, typing, data entry. Coordination: Perform gross body movements such as stooping, filing, and hand‑eye coordination tasks. Mobility: Frequently move from department to department, building to building, and sit for prolonged periods. Visual Discrimination: See objects closely when reading and viewing records or computer screen. Hearing: Hear normal sounds with some background noise. Mental Requirements Concentration: Concentrate on minimal and fine detail with some interruption. Attention Span: Attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes and for less than 10 minutes. Conceptualization: Understand and relate to concepts behind specific ideas and theories. Memory: Remember multiple tasks over long periods. Communication: Communicate verbally and in writing using advanced vocabulary and writing skills; reassuring fashion with patients and families. Working and Environmental Conditions Position requires exposure to infectious or communicable diseases, biohazardous or chemical materials. Occupational exposure may be expected.
