Details Float pool position covering multiple pediatric units including PICU, NICU, peds med/surg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) 36 or 48 hours per week with block scheduling not guaranteed 13-week contract assignment Every other weekend and every other holiday required Patient ratio of 1:2 Must float within scope of practice according to facility float policy Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active RN license (VA or compact) required, pending license accepted Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending) Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required Must be comfortable working in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED settings Peds PACU experience highly preferred Prior travel experience required, though candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered Teaching hospital experience required Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Additional Information Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance No RTO can be approved during the first two weeks of the assignment Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for an appropriate start date Previous charge experience preferred Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation plus leadership approval to return External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached American Traveler Job ID P-742086.
