Position Overview

The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing orientation and ongoing education for facility staff. This role also encompasses responsibilities as the Infection Prevention/Control Coordinator, focusing on designing systems and approving measures to prevent, control, and monitor infections among residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate learning needs and create in-service and continuing education programs based on quality assurance data to align with regulatory standards.
  • Develop, implement, communicate, and assess an annual training plan.
  • Create specific teaching plans and programs to address training requirements for all roles regularly.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to ensure that quality care meets the highest standards and that all facility policies and procedures are adhered to by every staff member.
  • This position requires on-call availability.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred but not mandatory. Background or training in infection control is also preferred.
  • A current CPR certification is desirable.
