Instrumentation/Automation Service Engineer I - OS

Abbott seeks an Instrumentation/Automation Service Engineer I to install, maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory automation equipment across clinical, R&D, manufacturing, and quality control settings. The role involves troubleshooting complex systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with engineering teams in a night shift position.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and qualify advanced automation systems per service policies
- Perform root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for automation failures
- Execute routine preventive maintenance, calibrations, and system startup protocols
- Complete accurate service documentation compliant with GDP and regulatory requirements
- Mentor Level 1 technicians and provide technical support to laboratory operations teams
Requirements
- Technical expertise in laboratory automation equipment installation and maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex automation systems independently
- Knowledge of regulated environments (CAP/CLIA, cGMP, FDA, ISO standards)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills across cross-functional teams
- Capacity to lift 40 pounds and work standing 60-75% of shift time
- Willingness to work nights (Tuesday-Friday, 8 PM-6:30 AM), weekends, and on-call
