Job Title: Welder Job Description

This role focuses on fabricating and welding machine parts in all positions while following engineering instructions, blueprints, and company procedures. You will perform layouts, fitting, positioning, and inspection of weldments to meet strict quality, alignment, and dimensional standards. The position requires hands-on work with welding equipment, cutting tools, and material handling devices, as well as maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area. Duties may be expanded over time as operational needs evolve.

• Fabricate and weld machine parts in all positions using appropriate welding processes and techniques.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering instructions to complete work accurately.
• Perform basic layout of parts from prints or hand drawings to prepare for fabrication and welding.
• Fit and position weldments using appropriate fixtures and jigs to achieve correct alignment and dimensions.
• Verify conformance of parts to specifications using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and precision inspection tools.
• Select suitable weld techniques within recognized procedures to obtain maximum weld strength and proper alignment on new, repair, and rework items.
• Perform set-up and all-position welding on a variety of parts and sizes within strict alignment, dimensional, and quality standards.
• Use an oxy-fuel torch to cut and straighten material as needed to produce quality weldments.
• Manage time effectively to ensure completion of assigned projects within specified time frames.
• Maintain established quality and safety standards throughout all work activities.
• Operate a forklift or crane when necessary to move materials and components safely.
• Follow company procedures and work instructions to complete assignments consistently and correctly.
• Communicate concerns, issues, and suggestions to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
• Complete other duties as assigned to support overall shop and production operations.

• Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to weld in all positions.
• Experience with TIG welding and general fabrication of machine parts.
• Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and other manufacturing instructions.
• Skill in performing basic layout of parts from prints or hand drawings.
• Competence in using fixtures and jigs to fit and position weldments accurately.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and precision inspection tools to verify conformance to specifications.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and procedures that ensure maximum weld strength and proper alignment.
• Ability to use an oxy-fuel torch for cutting and straightening materials.
• Proficiency in English with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Capability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and performing metric system conversions.
• Ability to wear required protective clothing and work effectively with various tools.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to adjust work schedule as requested.
• Willingness to cross-train and work in other functional areas of the shop as needed.

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing software are preferred but not required.
• Self-starting attitude with a positive, team-oriented mindset.
• Adaptability to changing work requirements and production priorities.
• Comfort working in a shop environment with welding, cutting, and material handling equipment.

This position is based in a manufacturing shop environment that involves hands-on welding, fabrication, cutting, and material handling activities. You will work with MIG and TIG welding equipment, oxy-fuel torches, fixtures, jigs, hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and precision inspection tools. Forklifts and cranes may be used to move materials and parts as needed. The work is typically performed on the shop floor, where maintaining a clean, neat, and organized work area is expected. Required protective clothing and safety gear must be worn to ensure safe operation around welding, cutting, and lifting equipment. Work hours may vary, and you should be willing to adjust your schedule based on production needs and cross-train in other shop areas when required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sussex, WI.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
