Underground Utility Worker Traditional Schedule

Job description - Hourly Position

The essential functions of this position are:

1. Operate mining equipment consistent with task training and operational necessities of the mine

2. Assist in maintenance activities consistent with training and the needs of the mine

3. Set floor to roof supports

4. Build or hang ventilation controls

5. Hang and handle power cables

6. Lay rail

7. Rock Dust

8. Shovel and cleanup spillage

9. Load and unload supplies and handle materials

10. Mine drainage including pumping and ditching

11. Assist in power moves

12. Assist in belt moves, installation and repair

13. Watch out for the safety of self and co-workers

14. Perform all required pre-operational checks before operating equipment

The marginal activities of this position are:

• Perform any other assigned tasks for which he or she is qualified by virtue of training or experience

Work Schedule:

• 8 hour shift + hot seat
• Rotating shifts
• Monday through Friday, occasional Saturday
• Overtime – as required, and/or voluntary

License/Certification:

• WV Miner's Card - Black Hat (Required)

Physical Requirements:

• Operate equipment in a safe efficient manner
• Use various hand tools
• Lift, carry, push, pull – tools, materials and supplies 50 – 100 lbs. regularly.
• Walk, bend, climb, reach, crawl as necessary
• Work Closely with others in a team environment
