Job Opportunity

Shift Availability

Day shift, Tuesday to Friday, 10 hours per day. This position also requires on-call and call-back responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

Scrub in on a variety of surgical procedures under the supervision of a professional nurse for advanced and complex surgeries.
Anticipate and respond to the surgeon's preferences for materials and instruments, updating the nurse as necessary based on ongoing assessments.
Set up a sterile table with necessary instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications or solutions for surgical procedures.
Tear down and reassemble instruments and equipment for cleaning, preparing items for terminal sterilization.
Monitor supplies and instruments to ensure sterilization, thereby enhancing the quality assurance of patient care.
Conduct inventory of assigned supplies and order replacements as needed.
Develop and implement educational programs and learning resources for the department, including in-service classes and projects.
Provide input for potential changes in policies, procedures, and patient care standards.
Be available for backup call for emergency cases that may require two surgical technicians.
Participate in assigned committees and perform other duties as required.

Education and Certification Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of a surgical technologist training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or a recognized agency.
Surgical Technologist Certification (CST).
Current BLS certification.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of one year of experience is required for this role.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology along with appropriate instrumentation, suturing materials, needles, and prosthetic devices.
Understanding of wound healing and potential complications.
Awareness of normal growth and development, including the physical and behavioral characteristics of individuals receiving nursing care.
Proficient in sterile techniques and processing.
Skilled in patient positioning.
Able to handle requests efficiently during surgical procedures.
