Enterprise Project Manager

Job Summary:

The Enterprise Project Manager - Executive serves as the Interim Director of Research Computing, providing transformational leadership and organizational stabilization for the Research Computing team within the Division of IT. This hybrid role focuses on improving operational effectiveness, rebuilding organizational culture, aligning resources with institutional priorities, and preparing the department for permanent executive leadership during a period of significant change. Responsibilities:

• Supervise managers, professional, and student staff.
• Establish performance expectations and monitor organizational outcomes.
• Make timely operational and resource allocation decisions.
• Lead organizational change initiatives and culture transformation efforts.
• Evaluate organizational effectiveness and recommend structural improvements.
• Develop and monitor departmental priorities and performance metrics in collaboration with executive leadership.
• Coordinate departmental budgets and strategic resource allocation with executive leadership.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, security standards, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Remove organizational obstacles that inhibit productivity, innovation, and collaboration.
• Provide executive-level reports and recommendations to executive leadership.
• Develop succession planning and transition documentation for permanent leadership.
• Conduct inventory of research technology infrastructure, services, projects, and budget needs.
• Establish governance, communication, and decision-making processes to support long-term success.
• Recruit, mentor, and prepare team members for long-term organizational success.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 8+ years of experience leading organizational transformation, change management, and service delivery optimization.
• 8+ years of experience leading large, complex technology projects.
• 8+ years of experience with personnel management, coaching, and performance accountability.
• Completed bachelor's degree.
• Successful completion of a 7-year standard background check and credit history check.
• E-Verify compliance.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with research cyberinfrastructure, high-performance computing, high-speed storage, and networking technologies.
• Experience implementing governance and operational maturity frameworks.
• Experience managing organizational change in higher education.
• Master's degree in science, technology, or a related field.
• ITIL certification.
• Cloud Infrastructure expertise (AWS/Azure).
• AI Infrastructure experience (AWS/Azure/Google).
• Carpentries Instructor certification.
• Training on HPC technologies such as Slurm and Infiniband.

Special Considerations:

• Candidate must be a resident of South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia, or willing to relocate to South Carolina at their own expense prior to starting.

• Strict adherence to submission guidelines and documentation naming conventions.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
• Hybrid work model requiring 3 days onsite per week.
• Contract duration: 6 months with possibility for extension.
• Position start date: November 2, 2026.
