Research Chemical Lab Technician

Trident Consulting is seeking a " Research Chemical Lab Technician ” for one of our clients in " Carlsbad, CA ” A global leader in business and technology services.

Job Title: Research Chemical Lab Technician

Location: Carlsbad, CA (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $27/hr on W2

Duration: 9 Months Contract

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00/8:00 AM – 4:00/5:00 PM

Job Summary:

This role involves handling, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining chemical containers, valves, and related equipment used in research and development operations. The ideal candidate will have prior container cleaning experience, a strong safety mindset, and experience working in chemical laboratory environments.

Important Requirements:

• Must have container cleaning experience clearly listed on the resume.
• Must be clean-shaven (required for respirator fit testing).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Empty, inspect, and clean chemical containers.
• Clean valves, parts, and equipment previously used with chemicals.
• Maintain chemical inventory records.
• Support 6S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental procedures.
• Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and technical documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR
• Associate Degree in Chemistry or related field with 1–3 years of experience; OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related science with 1+ year of experience.
• Hands-on container cleaning experience in chemical, laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
• Ability to safely handle chemical containers and materials.
• Experience working with PPE and safety protocols.
• Ability to lift and move containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chemistry lab experience handling:
• Organic materials
• Inorganic materials
• Acids and bases
• Experience working with:
• Chemical fume hoods
• Glove boxes
• Acid sinks
• Ability to read and understand SDS and technical drawings.
• SAP experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Wear full-face air-purifying respirator and chemical-resistant PPE.
• Lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods up to 8 hours.
• Frequently raise arms above shoulder level.
• Work in environments with chemical exposure while following safety procedures.
