Maintenance Mechanic 2 (3rd Shift) in Saint Charles

Job Description Join our amazing production team in St. Charles, IL. We are looking for an experienced Maintenance mechanic for our 3rd Shift production team. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and audits. Perform electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in response to equipment errors or failures. Make recommendations on repair strategies and priorities. Assist operators with minor maintenance issues to consistently obtain the standard operating efficiency of the system and minimize safety, quality, and downtime risks. Troubleshoot the equipment by having the ability to resolve routine issues without additional support. Conduct rebuilds on equipment. Maintain records of repairs, calibrations, tests, and standard setting processes. Identify and evaluate improvement activities resulting in quantifiable increased results. Review, interpret, and understand performance data that will enable the team to identify and implement performance improvement activities. Assist with facilities maintenance and other duties as assigned. Lead and/or assist with local Engineering upgrades and projects. Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as die cutters, web and sheet-fed presses, inserting machines, folders, conveyor systems, bindery equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. May repair or reproduce parts using welders or machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders or other machine shop equipment. Qualifications Skill in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing, and maintaining complex equipment and machinery. Advanced knowledge of equipment and machine control boards sufficient to trace symptoms of equipment malfunction and distinguish mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures from electrical or electronic failures. Ability to make precise adjustments for alignment, parallelism, and concentricity to prevent malfunctions throughout the entire machine or equipment. Ability to perform precise measurements of air and fluid pressure and flow, and knowledge of the mechanisms used to convert such readings into measurable units. Ability to interpret complex multiview drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturers' specifications, and other technical material to isolate malfunctions in devices such as hydraulic pumps and motors, mechanical clamping devices, and electric or hydraulic axis drive and positioning systems. Advanced knowledge of construction and assembly techniques and the ability to manufacture replacement parts with complex configurations or assemble unique devices with unusual angular relationships. Knowledge of geometry, shop mathematics, and handbook formulas to provide surfaces with interrelated dimensions and to calculate angles, clearances, fits, pressure, flow, and other parameters of interest. Intermediate electrical troubleshooting on AC/DC circuits with multimeter. Basic root cause analysis skills demonstrated. Experience with electronics and pneumatics. Knowledge of OSHA, HazMat, Lock Out Tag Out, NEC, etc. High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required). Mechanical and/or Electronic coursework. Typically requires four to five years' experience. Strong mechanical reasoning skills and conscientiousness. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under time constraints. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Experience using Windows-based PC applications. Additional Information The salary range for this role at the RRD location is $26.26 - $35.05 per hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs.
