Work Schedule: First Shift (Days)

Environmental Conditions: Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cold Room/Freezers -22degreesF/-6degrees C, Fluctuating Temps hot/cold, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Standing for full shift, Various outside weather conditions, Warehouse

Job Description

The Material Handler II is responsible for distribution and warehouse operations through the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and finished goods. This role ensures inventory accuracy, timely material delivery to production areas, and compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific's quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

A Day in the Life

Receive, inspect, and process incoming materials, components, and supplies.

• Accurately stock materials in designated warehouse and production locations.
• Pick, pack materials to support customer orders.
• Perform system transactions using ERP
• Transport materials safely between warehouse, storage, and production areas using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts as required.
• Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including packaging, labeling, and preparing shipments according to company procedures.
• Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damaged products, and process improvement opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with GMP, ISO, FDA, OSHA, and company quality standards as applicable.
• Ensure warehouse organization, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S principles.
• Support special projects, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field

Preferred: Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers/forklifts)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent.

0-2 years of warehouse, distribution, manufacturing support, or material handling experience.

Experience using inventory management systems, ERP systems (SAP, E1)

Ability to accurately perform inventory transactions and maintain records.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $17.45–$26.18.
