Commissioning Engineer, AMER-West ACx

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) to support the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. The CxE will work with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure construction quality and system reliability for Amazon‑owned data centers. Key Responsibilities Review design documents and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and controls systems. Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third‑party commissioning vendors. Develop, review, and execute test plans, scripts, and reports for system validation. Audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Prepare comprehensive weekly status reports and lessons‑learned documents. Coordinate site activities across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams. Escalate issues to stakeholders and communicate solutions to improve commissioning processes. Physical Requirements Walk job sites in uneven terrain. Work at heights and from ladders. Perform repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Lift up to 49 pounds and assist in group lifts of 50 pounds or more. Work shifts exceeding eight hours, including nights and weekends. Handle small wires and objects with precision. Operate in noisy, cold, or hot environments. Additional Job Requirements Availability for domestic and international travel up to 80% of the year. Personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed. U.S. citizenship required. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of engineering, installation, or commissioning experience in electrical and mechanical systems. High technical competency in mechanical, electrical, or controls systems used in critical infrastructures. Ability to review design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals. Experience creating and reviewing commissioning documentation such as test plans and scripts. Preferred Qualifications Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of SharePoint or similar is preferred. Strong communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and capable of working under high‑stress conditions. Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures. Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications).
