Technical Documentation Specialist

This Technical Documentation Specialist job is a 12 Months Contract with possible extension with a client located in Chandler AZ (Hybrid 3 days onsite and 1 day remote). Pay Range: $35/hr - $38/hr. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. This role partners closely with Network Engineering, Network Automation, and Production Operations teams to document new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and enhance or modernize existing operational artifacts. A key focus is ensuring all documentation is clear, accurate, reusable, and structured to support automation workflows and self-service execution. Key Responsibilities Define and own the monitoring and observability architecture for the enterprise access network, including wired, wireless, SD-WAN, identity, and supporting infrastructure components. Ensure end-to-end integration of network telemetry and health data into existing enterprise monitoring platforms such as IBM Watson, SevOne, and other approved Network Operations tools. Partner with Architecture and Engineering teams to understand network designs, standards, and templates, and translate them into measurable health, performance, and availability monitoring standards. Collaborate with network automation teams to ensure monitoring and validation are embedded within automated deployment, change, and lifecycle workflows. Define standard KPIs, thresholds, alerts, and dashboards aligned to operational support needs, service reliability, and compliance objectives. Support the evolution from reactive monitoring to observability, leveraging telemetry, streaming data, APIs, and cross-domain correlation where applicable. Ensure monitoring readiness for pilot deployments and scaled rollouts, including validation during test, turn-up, and operational acceptance phases. Identify and address monitoring gaps, blind spots, and operational risks, working with stakeholders to remediate pre-production and post production adoption. Align alerting, incident flows, and escalation patterns with existing Network Operations and Production Services processes. Produce clear documentation for monitoring standards, onboarding guidelines, and operational handover. Requirements Education: Bachelors or masters degree in any discipline. Experience Range: 4-6 years of relevant experience Technical Writer, Documentation Specialist, or similar role supporting network, infrastructure, or platform engineering teams. Foundational Skills Hands-on experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation using Atlassian Confluence as an enterprise knowledge management system. Proficient with Markdown and structured authoring concepts to support modular, automation-friendly documentation. Proven experience authoring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operational runbooks, Patch, Readme and release notes, Troubleshooting and escalation guides Strong ability to translate engineering workflows into Step-based procedures, Decision logic, Preconditions, inputs, outputs, and validations Experience documenting API and admin-level workflows, enabling future automation and orchestration. Ability to structure SOPs so they are consumable by automation platforms, orchestration tools, and self-service workflows. Hands-on use of JIRA for requirements tracking, defect documentation, and change-driven updates. Proficiency in MS Visio for network diagrams, process flows, and operational workflow visualization. Ability to supplement SOPs with visuals that improve automation readiness and human execution consistency. Desired Skills Familiarity with enterprise SDLC and DDLC (Documentation Development Life Cycle) integration. Strong command of documentation standards and style guides, including: Microsoft Writing Style Guide (MSTP) Simplified Technical English (STE) Organization-specific documentation standards Expertise in plain English technical writing, information mapping, and clarity optimization. Skilled in reviewing, editing, and conforming engineer-written content into enterprise-quality documentation.
