Job Overview Manager, Data Scientist – Innovation Hub at Capital One. Data is at the center of everything we do. This role is part of the Innovation Hub team, which partners with business units to design and deploy AI‑driven solutions across the enterprise. Team Description The Innovation Hub team works with business leaders to build generative AI and other AI‐powered capabilities that deliver real business value. We champion AI best practices, standards, and technology across the company. Role Description Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver products that customers love. Use Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and other tools to uncover insights in large numeric and textual datasets. Build machine‑learning models through all development phases—from design and training to evaluation, validation and deployment. Translate technical solutions into clear business goals and outcomes. Ideal Candidate Innovative—continually researches emerging technologies and applies state‑of‑the‑art methods. Creative—brings definition to big, undefined problems and is comfortable sharing new ideas. Leader—challenges conventional thinking and works with stakeholders to improve the status quo. Technical—experienced with open‑source languages, cloud platforms and data science solutions. Basic Qualifications Currently holds or is pursuing one of the following advanced degrees, with plans to complete on or before the start date: Bachelor’s in a quantitative field + 6 years data‑analytics experience. Master’s or MBA with quantitative concentration + 4 years data‑analytics experience. PhD in a quantitative field + 1 year data‑analytics experience. At least 1 year of experience using open‑source programming languages for large‑scale data analysis. At least 1 year of experience working with machine‑learning. At least 1 year of experience using relational databases. Preferred Qualifications Master’s in a STEM field + 3 years data‑analytics experience or PhD in STEM. At least 3 years of experience in Python. At least 3 years of experience with machine‑learning. At least 1 year of experience with AWS, including Amazon Bedrock. Experience designing or deploying generative‑AI or large‑language‑model (LLM) applications. Experience working across multiple business domains or in cross‑functional projects. Compensation & Benefits Locations: Plano, TX: $179,400 – $204,700 McLean, VA: $197,300 – $225,100 Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
