Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Technician

Join our EHS team supporting two Massachusetts locations — Devens and Somerville — where you will partner every day with engineers and technicians to keep people safe, protect the environment, and maintain full compliance with OSHA, RCRA, EPA, DOT, and related requirements.

Schedule: Weekday 2nd shift, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm (10% shift differential)

• Start the shift by calibrating fixed and portable gas detection devices as required by regulations and manufacturer guidance.
• Walk the floor to verify safety equipment is inspection-ready and functional: fire extinguishers, fall protection gear, first aid kits, AEDs, safety showers, and eyewash stations.
• Confirm lifting and rigging equipment is maintained per regulatory and manufacturer specifications.
• Facilitate safety inspections and audits of ladders and walking-working surfaces using established checklists.
• Provide direct safety oversight on the floor — identify hazards, take or drive immediate corrective actions, and support incident investigations.
• Assist with employee exposure assessments and industrial hygiene monitoring.
• Help implement and reinforce site-specific safety programs that keep operations on track.

• Manage recyclables, universal waste, waste oil, and hazardous waste; ensure proper labeling and storage by classification.
• Monitor satellite accumulation areas and maintain accurate logs, including 90-day hazardous waste drum records, hazardous waste sign-in sheets, and VOC solvent usage logs.
• Conduct weekly inspections of hazardous waste and hazardous material storage areas.
• Coordinate with our waste disposal contractor to assist with shipments.
• Perform weekly stormwater inspections in alignment with the SWPPP.
• Support spill prevention and response activities, and assist with SPCC implementation.
• Carry out environmental compliance and due diligence audits across both sites.

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 2+ years supporting and overseeing elements of an environmental, health, and safety program.
• Background in construction or industrial settings with hands-on safety oversight experience.
• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while managing shifting priorities.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEC, RCRA, DOT, and related regulations.

• Experience managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas.
• Background implementing or developing health and safety plans and programs.
• Experience responding to releases of hazardous and non-hazardous materials to air, soil, or water.
• Strong hands-on approach and attention to detail, demonstrated academically or professionally.
• Consistency in multitasking, follow-through with minimal supervision, and clear communication.

• Wastewater treatment fundamentals.
• Workplace safety and EHS program management.
• Experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Hazardous material disposal and storage best practices.
