Global Head of Solutions Engineering

Work model: Hybrid, 2 days on-site, 3 remote Comp: $240K to $280K + competitive equity A PE-backed enterprise software company selling AI-driven products into large commercial enterprises and U.S. Federal and Defense customers. Well capitalised, growing fast, with a clear path to a significant outcome in the next 2 to 3 years. The problem you'd solve The Solutions Engineering function has grown quickly across two very different markets, government and commercial, but has always run as two separate teams. Post-investment, the business needs one leader to unify them, set a consistent technical GTM strategy, and recruit fast enough to keep pace with the pipeline. You'd be the first person in that seat. This is a build, not a maintenance role. What you'd own The global SE function, roughly 10 to 12 engineers today, scaling significantly Two first-line leaders directly, one on the government side (US) and one on the commercial side (UK) Technical GTM end to end: demos, POVs, solution architecture, competitive positioning, value engineering A close line into the product org, feeding customer insight into the roadmap Aggressive hiring. Building the team is a core part of the job, not a side effect. You'll fit if you have 15+ years in pre-sales or Solutions Engineering at enterprise B2B SaaS, with 6+ years leading teams Dedicated Federal/Defense pre-sales ownership, not occasional exposure, alongside commercial enterprise Proven leadership of a globally distributed SE org covering EMEA/UK or APAC, not North America only A track record of scaling an SE team from small to large during hyper-growth. Built it, not inherited it. Technical depth in modern enterprise architecture, cloud, AI platforms, APIs, data integration and complex SaaS design Nice to have Background selling data or risk platforms into regulated, compliance-driven buyers Experience integrating acquired teams post-M&A Bachelor's in CS, Engineering or Information Systems. MBA or MS preferred. What won't work Pure ICs making a first move into leadership, or consulting-heavy profiles without direct SaaS SE leadership tenure.
