This position is a full-time opportunity located in Chantilly, VA.Battelle is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Computer Engineer to provide direct support at a client facility. The selected candidate will bring deep expertise in embedded software development, machine learning, and data engineering to advance critical client missions in science and technology fields. This role requires the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment, delivering high-quality technical solutions independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Computer Engineer, the selected individual will apply advanced software and systems engineering expertise to support high-priority national security missions. Responsibilities may include:Design and implement machine learning and data engineering solutions in support of advanced client missions across science and technology domainsDevelop embedded software for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and specialized embedded systems using C/C++ and newer compiled languages such as Go or RustApply software development expertise to the analysis of compiled custom operating systems, including learning and applying reverse engineering principlesCollect, organize, and analyze technical information from multiple sources to drive client missions and quick-turn tasks in fast-paced environmentsIndependently propose, develop, and execute creative solutions to unique and complex technical problemsSupport administrative tasks including producing thorough, complete work products that require minimal revisionProactively manage expectations, communicate progress, and meet deadlines in a fast-moving, agile environmentCollaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including co-located and geographically distributed team members, while leading tasks on time and within budgetKey QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 15+ years of experience; Master's degree in a related field with 10+ years of experience; PhD with 8+ years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong understanding of embedded software development in C/C++Experience in national security, defense, and/or intelligence community programsExperience or interest in coding in Go or RustMust be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraphCompensation DataBattelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $200,000 – $270,000 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
