About the Role
The Company is seeking a distinguished scholar to fill the Smead Endowed Chair in Space Technology. This tenured position, at the level of Full Professor, is dedicated to the advancement of space technology research and education. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading an externally funded research group, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and engaging in university and professional service. The role also involves leadership in the Smead Program, with a focus on fostering a prestigious Ph.D. aerospace engineering fellowship program. The ideal candidate will have a research doctorate in aerospace, aeronautical, or astronautical engineering, or a related discipline, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring a diverse student body. Applicants for the Smead Endowed Chair in Space Technology at the company should possess excellent management and organizational skills, a willingness to learn quickly, and a proven track record of maintaining an externally funded research program. The position requires the ability to meet the university's standards for tenure and appointment at the Professor rank, including a strong publication record, a history of high-quality teaching, and a demonstrated ability to obtain external funding.
