Manufacturing Technician : Sterling , Illinois

Our customer in Sterling, Illinois is seeking a motivated and experienced Manufacturing Technician to join their team on 1st shift. This role coordinates projects from planning through implementation, monitors progress, maintains project documentation, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost. Using Total Productivity System (TPS) methodologies and Lean manufacturing principles, this position identifies opportunities to eliminate waste, improve processes, and support operational excellence.

 

Responsibilities of the  Manufacturing Technician :

• Coordinate and support manufacturing improvement, productivity, and capital projects.
• Manage projects from planning through implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and objectives are met.
• Track project progress, maintain documentation, and communicate updates to stakeholders and leadership.
• Identify and reduce manufacturing waste using Lean and TPS methodologies.
• Analyze production challenges, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Support initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and cost performance.
• Assist with cycle time reduction, capacity improvements, and manufacturing cost reduction projects.
• Collaborate with vendors, production teams, and other departments to achieve project goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.

 

Manufacturing Technician   Requirements and Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field  OR High School Diploma/GED with equivalent manufacturing, continuous improvement, or project coordination experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Proven work history demonstrating reliability and longevity with previous employers.

 

Pay for  Manufacturing Technician Starting at $27-$35/hour.
