Pay: $20-$24/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Location: Primarily remote with occasional local travel
Contract: 4-month W2 contract through Medix
Equipment: Provided
Start: ASAP

Medix is hiring multiple Chart Procurement Specialists to support a healthcare organization's Risk Adjustment team.

This position is responsible for obtaining medical records from physician offices and healthcare facilities. Specialists will work through assigned provider worklists, submit and follow up on record requests, navigate EMR/EHR systems and provider portals, and ensure the correct records are collected, organized, and submitted accurately.

The majority of the work is remote, but candidates should be comfortable with occasional local travel to provider offices when needed. These visits are not expected to be frequent and may be closer to periodic or monthly support depending on business needs and location.

Candidates near Westchester/Mid-Hudson Valley, Albany, Rochester, and surrounding areas are especially encouraged to apply.

This is an initial 4-month contract assignment. Strong performers may be considered for longer-term or permanent opportunities based on performance, business needs, and available openings.

• Contact physician offices and healthcare facilities to request medical records.

• Follow up on outstanding requests by phone, fax, email, portal, and other approved methods.

• Navigate EMR/EHR systems and provider portals to retrieve records.

• Learn new record systems and determine the best method for obtaining requested documentation.

• Manage assigned provider and chart-retrieval worklists in Excel.

• Review incoming records to ensure the correct patient and requested documentation were received.

• Scan, download, merge, rename, organize, and upload medical records.

• Research and resolve missing, incomplete, or delayed record requests.

• Communicate professionally with physicians, practice managers, and provider-office staff.

• Support occasional onsite medical record retrieval at local provider offices when needed.

• Maintain accurate documentation of retrieval activity and request status.

• Manage a high volume of assignments independently while meeting established deadlines.

• Maintain confidentiality when handling medical records and protected health information.

• 1+ year of experience in medical records, a healthcare/provider office, health information management, claims, or a related healthcare environment.

• Experience working with medical records and EMR/EHR systems.

• Comfortable communicating directly with physician offices and healthcare facilities.

• Strong Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills.

• Ability to sort, filter, and maintain Excel-based worklists.

• Strong organization and attention to detail.

• Ability to learn new systems and technology quickly.

• Strong follow-through and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines independently.

• Comfortable with occasional local travel to provider offices.

• Medical record or chart retrieval

• Release of Information (ROI) or Health Information Management (HIM)

• HEDIS or Risk Adjustment

• Provider outreach or Provider Relations

• Experience working across multiple EMR/EHR systems or provider portals

• Previous experience working directly with physician practices or healthcare facilities
