If you’re looking for a place where your contribution matters and where you can help build a better world of work; think of Gallagher.OverviewPrimary focus of role is to provide guidance and assistance to Account teams and clients by using financial decision making tools, conducting client facing meetings when appropriate, and to speak effectively on behalf of the Financial & Actuarial Consulting team regarding core services.How you'll make an impactApply advanced skills in order to evaluate and present monthly, quarterly and annual reports that measure client financial status, track expenses by product line, renewal projections, funding levels and rates, etc. to the Account Management teams and to clients when necessary.Help train subordinates.Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of various proprietary Models and Tools used to calculate financial results.Analyzing data from carriers on clients, and provide recommendations to account management teams or to clients, in order to effectively negotiate rates and funding levels.Preparing, analyzing and consulting on various client deliverables, as defined by the scope of services of the Financial & Actuarial Consulting team.Demonstrate understanding of whether or not analysis “makes sense”; can think beyond the numbers on the page.Conduct any activity for special assignments as assigned by management.Maintain workflow tracking application or logs, as established by management and departmental guidelines and protocol.Oversee the review of contract documents such as plan descriptions, administrative agreements, claim exclusions and limitations, etc. in order to gain basic knowledge of client parameters that may impact financial reports; identify training opportunities in this regard for subordinates on the team.Evaluate, assign, monitor and peer review reports generated by Financial Benefits Consulting team subordinates, when requested by various Gallagher staff.Demonstrate competence with collection of required data and materials needed for the successful completion of various projects with minimal supervision.Serve as a resource to branch office staff in order to provide resolution of complex underwriting problems and questions delivered by client.Stay abreast of what's happening in local markets, to make certain that each branch is given the tools needed to stay competitive in their communities.Assist in the preparation of presentations, campaigns, communication materials, newsletters, etc. to internal staff and clients / prospects regarding Financial Benefits Consulting policies and scope of servicesProficient and compliant with internal systems, including workflow tracking applications.Strong oral and written communications and presentationsManage escalated service issues to productive outcomeOversee communication from Analyst positions regarding processes and data needed in order to effectively analyze client financial statusAbility to peer review and make suggestions for materials and notices shared across the region and/or divisional Financial Benefits Consulting teamAbout YouRequiredBachelor’s degree, (financial / math preferred) Minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in the Employee Benefits Field in an underwriting capacity Ability to communicate effectively in a fast paced work environment Excellent oral and written communication skillsKnowledgeable of underwriting principles and of the employee benefits field Able to take direction from othersTechnical SkillsMust show competency with Microsoft Office, and be able to work in a Windows environmentAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills – Effectively write and use formulasInterpersonal SkillsAbility to communicate effectively in fast pace work environment Excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing)Must be able to persuade others to provide items needed to complete this job within pre-established timeframesSupport corporate, region and/or sub-region initiativesAbility to negotiate and effectively communicate to manage expectationsInitiative to continue growing personally and professionally as our industry changes and business need changesMust demonstrate ability to work professionally as a team member in a group with diverse backgroundsMust have initiative and be properly assertive in presenting new ideasParticipate and assist with regularly scheduled Financial & Actuarial Consulting Team meetings and Champion calls hosted by Director of Financial & Actuarial ConsultingDevelop and maintain strong working relationships with all external and internal partners by demonstrating customer focus and work ethic, thereby establishing an environment of trust and reliabilityProvide assistance as needed to any member of the Financial & Actuarial Consulting team or to any branch location to the extent possible including on site client meetingsEffectively navigate through conflictCompensation and benefitsAt Gallagher, we believe supporting our colleagues goes far beyond the role itself.
