This job posting is for a Teya contract at Ft. Belvoir, VA and is primarily for the purposes of contact incumbent onboarding. Current employees of BASOPS Contract at Ft. Belvoir, VA are encouraged to apply; all hiring and onboarding is done electronically.

Position Description:

The Welder fabricates and repairs parts & equipment with gas or arc welding processes.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, mobile homes, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
  • Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
  • Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
  • May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with company safety policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.   • High school graduate. Minimum two years in the welding trade and/or certified credentials.
  • Shall possess a working knowledge of equipment used for maintenance of Roads & Grounds.
  • Experience in O&M to include support of a work force that is responsible for O&M and repair of all facility systems, subsystems, and selected equipment typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver's license and insurable driving record.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.
