This is an entry‑level accounting position ideal for someone early in their career who wants hands‑on experience across core accounting functions. In this role, you’ll support day‑to‑day financial operations, help maintain accurate records, and assist with financial reporting and analysis. You’ll work closely with internal teams and vendors while building a strong foundation in accounting processes and systems. Founded in 1981 by the League of Oregon Cities and the Association of Oregon Counties Governed by its public‑sector members What We Do CIS helps local governments manage risk and reduce costs by providing: Insurance coverage (property, liability, workers’ comp, cyber) Employee benefits programs Risk management services and consulting HR support, training, and legal/claims expertise Who We Serve ~98% of Oregon cities Over 80% of Oregon counties What We Value We’re guided by core values that shape how we work and collaborate: Service: Delivering exceptional support and solutions Stewardship: Responsible management of resources Integrity: Acting with honesty and consistency Innovation: Embracing new ideas and improvement Collaboration: Working across teams to achieve shared goals Equity: Building an inclusive and respectful workplace What You’ll Do Support key accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities Perform account reconciliations and prepare journal entries Assist with financial reporting, audit preparation, and annual financial statements Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and policies Process payments and maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9s and 1099 tracking Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoices and payment status Help monitor department budgets and ensure accurate financial tracking Provide backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and other finance functions Assist with improving processes and strengthening internal controls Work Environment & Schedule Hybrid work model: During training, up to 3 days per week in the Wilsonville office; potential for more remote flexibility after onboarding Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, typically between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasional travel (1–2 overnight stays per year) may be required What You Bring Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field 1–3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience Knowledge & Skills: Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Solid math and analytical skills Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) and accounting systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines Education and experience requirements listed are minimum standards.
