This position operates in a call center environment and is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, surgeries, procedures, and follow-up visits for multiple providers. Job Duties Answer incoming calls from patients, physicians' offices, hospitals, and insurance providers. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments, surgeries, and medical procedures. Coordinate surgery dates, facility availability, physician schedules, and patient requirements. Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information. Explain appointment instructions, procedure preparation requirements, and necessary documentation. Communicate with providers, nurses, surgery centers, and hospitals to ensure accurate scheduling. Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Verify referrals, authorizations, and other scheduling requirements as needed. Follow up with patients regarding schedule changes, cancellations, and appointment reminders. Ensure confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations. Meet productivity and quality standards while handling a high volume of calls. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 1-2 years of medical scheduling, medical office, patient access, or healthcare call center experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Experience with EMR/EHR systems and scheduling software. Strong computer, data entry, and multitasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion when interacting with patients.
